A preposition is a word that shows the relationship a noun (or pronoun) and another word in the sentence. Prepositions are usually short words, and they are normally placed the noun or pronoun. A prepositional phrase consists a preposition, a noun (or pronoun), and any modifiers of the noun (or pronoun). Prepositions can also indicate location, such as "The book is the table." or "She walked the park."
